4W - The Lagunaria DX Group's DXpedition to Timor Leste (11 October-8 November) [425DXN 1505] has been postponed until sometime in 2021. "The current situation based on the Corona pandemic makes it impossible to plan anything later in this year", the team says. "The uncertainty of travel safety, the not predictable impact on the companies we have to rely on and the current restrictions that prevent a solid preparation, forced us to take this step. We hope that we can see clearer by the end of this year what will be in 2021". Updates will be posted to http://timor-leste-dx.de/.
EU - Commemorating the end of World War II, special callsigns EV75M, EV75F, EV75K, EV75P, EV75GA, EV75GK and EV75PP are expected to be active from Belarus on 2-9 May. They will participate in the Memorial Pobeda-75 (see below). QSL via operator's instructions.
G - This year the Poldhu Amateur Radio Club (GB2GM) will be unable to operate from the Marconi Centre on 25 April. Another special callsign, however, will celebrate Marconi's birthday: GB1GM, operated by Cliff, G3UYN (Chairman of PARC). "No QSL", he says.
G - Even though this year's International Marconi Day has been cancancelled, three IMD stations will be active from England on 25 April to celebrate the birth of Guglielmo Marconi: GB5IMD (on 2m FM), GB6IMD (on the HF bands SSB) and GB8IMD (on the HF bands FT8). HL - Special callsigns HL40GDM and D73M will be active on 1-31 May to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Gwangju Uprising (18-27 May 1980), aka the Gwangju Democratization Movement. QSLs via HL4CCM, direct or bureau. In 2011, the Archives for the May 18th Democratic Uprising against Military Regime were inscribed to the UNESCO Memory of the World Register.
JA_ant - The 61st Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition's overwintering team at the Syowa Station on East Ongul Island (AN-015), Antarctica includes Taka, JA1AGS and Hiro, JH7JCX. In their spare time they are QRV from the 8J1RL club station, with activity on 40, 30, 20, 17 and 15 metres mainly FT8. They will be there until January 2021. JA - Special callsign 8J17CALL will be activated from 23 April until 22 April 2021 by the 7-CALL Amateur Radio Club (JS1YEY), a Tokyo based club station that gathers operators with callsigns in the 7K-7N prefix series - "a symbol of the golden age of Japanese amateur radio history". The first 7K call (7K1AAA) was issued on 23 April 1990, the last 7-Call was issued on 20 June 2003 (7N4XZZ). Over the years some 95% of the 7K-7N stations lost interest in the hobby, and nowadays the 7-Callers are only 17,583 out of the 402,180 Japanese amateurs. LZ - Special callsign LZ50BFRA will be active from 26 April until the end of the year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Bulgarian Federation of Radio Amateurs. Founded on 26 April 1970, BFRA is the national IARU member society. QSL via LZ1BJ (bureau).
OE - 4U2STAYHOME is the special callsign for the VIC Amateur Radio Contest DX Club (4U1A, http://www.cqdx.ru/4u1a/) to join the Stay Home / Stay Safe campaign. This activity counts for Austria for DXCC, and for the Vienna International Centre for the CQ DX Marathon. QSL via UA3DX, direct or bureau.
OE - Jo, OE4VIE will be active as OE50MHZ (WWL JN87dc) from 1 May to 30 June. He will operate CW, SSB and digital modes on 6 metres, to mark the 30th anniversary of the allocation - initially subject to severe restrictions - of the Magic Band to Austrian amateurs. UA - A very large number of Russian stations using special prefix RP75 (where the letter P stands for 'pobeda', i.e. 'victory') will be active on 2-9 May to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. VE - Canadian licensees are allowed to use "special event" prefixes from 20 April to 20 June as a reminder to stay at home and help contain and limit the spread of COVID-19: VA stations can use CF, VE stations can use CG, VO stations can use CH, and VY stations can use CI.
W - The Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club of Babylon, NY is looking for amateurs in each of New York State's 62 counties to operate their home stations under the special event callsign K2H (H for Heroes) between 1 and 31 May. All operators will be signing K2H/along with the county abbreviation as used in the New York QSO Party (e.g. K2H/SUF for Suffolk, K2H/NAS for Nassau, etc). This special operation is intented to express gratitude to the men and women on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
